For prop-firm traders
7 things a gold EA needs on a prop-firm account
Prop firms end an account on one bad day. Before you let any EA trade a challenge, it should respect the same limits you would. Here is the checklist I built the Pro editions against.
A hard daily loss limit
Most firms fail an account the moment the day's loss passes a set percent. The EA must stop itself before that, not after.
Pro: Daily loss limit (3% by default) measured from the day's starting balance against current equity, so open trades count. When it is reached there are no new orders for the rest of the server day, and Gold Breakout Sentinel Pro also cancels its waiting stop orders. Set it a little below your firm's limit.
A maximum drawdown stop that stays stopped
A trailing or overall drawdown rule is the other way accounts fail. Stopping for an hour and starting again is not enough.
Pro: Max drawdown from the highest equity seen (20% by default). It stops new orders until you set Resume, keeps that state across a restart, and can close the open trade too.
A stop loss on every trade, and no grid or martingale
Averaging down and doubling up are exactly what drawdown rules punish.
Both editions: every order is sent with its stop loss, one position at a time, no grid, no martingale, no averaging.
Risk per trade in percent, not a fixed lot
A fixed lot means a different risk every time volatility changes.
Pro: risk levels Safe 1%, Medium 2%, High 3%, Very high 5% or a custom percent of balance or equity; the lot is worked out from the stop distance for every order and never goes below the broker's minimum.
No new trades around high-impact news
Many firms restrict trading around major releases, and spreads on gold jump then.
Pro: no new trades from 30 minutes before to 30 minutes after high-impact USD events from the MetaTrader economic calendar (live and demo charts; the calendar does not exist in the Strategy Tester). A spread guard skips orders when the spread is wide.
Control over Fridays and trading hours
Weekend gaps and holding rules catch many funded traders out.
Pro: choose the trading days and hours, and a Friday cut-off hour after which no new trades are opened.
Proof you can check yourself
A firm's rules are strict; the EA's track record should be just as clear.
Both editions: the default inputs are the optimised settings, so a Strategy Tester run on your broker's data reproduces what you will trade. Every product page shows the backtest on RoboForex history including the weak years, and every release passes the Market's validation and a non-repainting check before upload.
Try it
Both EAs are free on the MQL5 Market at 0.01 lot, with the same strategy and defaults as their Pro editions. Start on a demo account; the panel shows the real risk of each trade before it is placed.
Trading gold with leverage carries a high risk of losing money. The figures here are backtests on RoboForex history and describe the past; they do not predict the future. This is software, not financial advice.
