Commission Quote Sheet
The sheet a wholesale buyer or a careful client actually asks for at the point of ordering: every line item behind a total, the sizing guidance that keeps a resize from being a surprise, and the recurring cost most white-gold buyers are never quoted up front. Nothing here is re-typed by hand, so it cannot drift from the free calculator.
Example: 1 ct lab-grown solitaire
1 ct lab-grown, G colour / VS2 clarity, 4-claw setting.
| Line item | Input | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Metal | 4.1 g 18k gold (750/1000) × $142.86/g, observed 2026-09-06 | $439.29 |
| Labour | 4 hr × $68.00/hr (this studio's own rate) | $272.00 |
| Stone | 1 ct lab-grown, G colour / VS2 clarity, as quoted | $1,100.00 |
| Wastage | 6% of metal cost — offcuts, filing dust, polishing loss | $26.36 |

| Total | $1,859.65 |
Gold $142.86/g · silver $2.15/g, both observed 2026-09-06 (JM Bullion). Indicative — re-derived from that day's actual spot on the day an order is confirmed.
Ring-sizing guidance
Circumference in millimetres, by US / UK / EU size — the same table the free page shows, repeated here for the print sheet.
| US | UK | EU | Circumference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3 | F | 44.0 | 44.0 mm |
| 4 | H½ | 46.8 | 46.8 mm |
| 5 | J½ | 49.3 | 49.3 mm |
| 6 | L½ | 51.9 | 51.9 mm |
| 7 | N½ | 54.4 | 54.4 mm |
| 8 | P½ | 57.0 | 57.0 mm |
| 9 | R½ | 59.5 | 59.5 mm |
| 10 | T½ | 62.1 | 62.1 mm |
| 11 | V½ | 64.6 | 64.6 mm |
Why band width changes the size
A wide band contacts more of the knuckle on the way over it than a thin one does at the exact same finger circumference, so it needs more clearance to pass comfortably.
| Band width | Typical adjustment |
|---|---|
| 1.5–2 mm | True to a standard fitting — no adjustment. |
| 4–5 mm | Usually a quarter size up from a thin band on the same finger. |
| 6–8 mm | Usually a half size up — the wider face has to clear the same knuckle. |
| 9 mm+ | A half to full size up, and worth trying on in person before ordering. |
Settings that cannot be resized
- Eternity bands — stones set all the way around leave no bare metal to stretch or cut.
- Channel-set bands — stones sit inside a continuous metal channel that can’t be safely opened.
- Some tension settings — the stone is held by the band’s own spring tension, which a resize would loosen or break.
Rhodium replate — a recurring cost
Laid out as a schedule, the way a maintenance contract would be — not a footnote at the bottom of a receipt.
| Interval | Cost per visit | 10-year total |
|---|---|---|
| Every 12–24 months | $60.00–$120.00 | $400.00–$1,000.00 |
