Work with me

Bring me in for the boring layer underneath every fast deploy.

I take on a small number of focused contract engagements at a time, plus advisory retainers. I do not do staff augmentation or open-ended "extra pair of hands" work — every engagement has a defined outcome.

Engagement types

CI/CD Audit

A two-week teardown of why your pipeline is slow — and a plan to fix it.

$6,000 · fixed fee

2 weeks

  • Full audit of build, test, and deploy stages
  • Action-graph + caching analysis with a measured baseline
  • Prioritized findings report with effort/impact estimates
  • A live walkthrough with your platform team

Best for: Teams whose pipeline crept past 20 minutes and nobody knows exactly why.

Platform Sprint

Most popular

One month, embedded, shipping a concrete developer-experience win.

From $18,000 · per month

4–8 weeks

  • Embedded with your team, your tools, your repo
  • One scoped outcome — remote build cache, hermetic CI, a typed data layer
  • Production-ready code plus the docs and tests around it
  • Knowledge transfer so it does not leave when I do

Best for: A platform team that knows the win they want but is underwater on delivery.

Fractional Staff

Senior platform judgement on retainer, a few days a month.

From $4,500 · per month

Ongoing, 30-day cancel

  • Architecture review and design feedback on call
  • Async availability for the hard decisions (Slack + docs)
  • Two half-days a month of hands-on or pairing time
  • Quarterly platform health check

Best for: Founders or EMs who need a staff-level second opinion without the headcount.

Talk or Workshop

A conference talk or an internal workshop on CI, caching, or platform craft.

From $2,500 · per engagement

Half to full day

  • A tailored talk or hands-on workshop for your team
  • Materials you keep — slides, repo, and exercises
  • Pre-session intake so it fits your stack, not a generic deck
  • Follow-up Q&A doc afterward

Best for: Eng orgs and conferences that want substance over a sponsored keynote.

How it works

Four steps, no surprises.

  1. 01

    A short call

Thirty minutes, no charge. You describe the problem; I tell you honestly whether I am the right person and which engagement fits.

  2. 02

    A written scope

Before any invoice, you get a one-page scope: the outcome, what is in, what is explicitly out, the timeline, and the price. No surprises.

  3. 03

    The work, in the open

I work in your repo against your CI, with a short written update every week. You can see exactly where things stand at any point.

  4. 04

    Handover that sticks

Every engagement ends with docs, tests, and a walkthrough so the work keeps paying off long after the contract closes.

Questions

Before you reach out.

Do you take equity instead of cash?
Occasionally, for advisory retainers with early-stage teams I believe in. Never as the whole fee, and never for fixed-scope project work.
Can you just join our standups full-time?
No. I do outcome-scoped work, not staff augmentation. If you need a full-time engineer, you need a hire, and I am happy to help you interview for one.
What stacks do you work in?
TypeScript and Go day to day; comfortable across Postgres, Kubernetes, Bazel-style build systems, and most major CI platforms. The work is rarely about the language.
How do payments work?
Fixed-fee engagements are 50% to start, 50% on delivery. Retainers bill monthly in advance. Standard net-15 terms, invoices via Stripe.

Have a pipeline problem worth a conversation?

Start with the free 30-minute call. The worst case is you leave with a clearer idea of the problem — and an honest answer about whether I'm the right person.
